Tips To Get Gourmet Cooking While Camping Happening
Before you write off gourmet cooking while camping as too hard, remember these important tips and you are sure to be successful.
1. Start with food safety. Since many foods will require refrigeration, only take along foods that you can keep safely. This may mean bringing a long a camper or other unit that can keep foods cold or it may mean choosing recipes that do not include foods that need to be kept that way. Not only is it unsafe to bring foods along this way, but it can also be dangerous to your own recipes as they won't come out good at all.
2. Choose the right cooking method. If you want to cook over an open fire pit, do so but make sure that you adjust cooking times and temperatures in your gourmet recipes to match. You can often rig virtually any pot or pan over an open fire, though, so this in itself is not difficult to do. Yet, you will definitely want to consider the right method for the type of cooking you are doing. 3. Simple yet tasty food is going to provide the best results for anyone. After a long day hiking, you will not want to have to spend another hour preparing dinner. But, putting together a great crock-pot meal that is gourmet in flavor works well. Look for meals that don't require a lot of utensils, a lot of ingredients or even a long time to prepare if you are not up for doing all that work.
