When grilling your favorite steak, always season it with salt and pepper before putting it on the grill. There are some people who believe this is a bad idea, thinking that the salt will cure the meat. Normally, this will not happen if you season your meat just prior to grilling.

Steak cooking tips also involve that nifty trick of getting those beautiful grill marks. The way to do this is simple: Leave the meat alone!

Most of us have the temptation to move steaks around on the grill. Avoid doing that. Just put them down and let the grill do the work.

Handling flare ups is easy. If you start getting flare ups, turn the heat down a little or move the steak to another part of the grill to get your grill marks.

Other great steak cooking tips have to do with the last period of cooking. You can finish your steaks in your oven at 450 degrees. Many restaurants cook this way. Often restaurants will mark the steaks on the high heat grill, and finish them in the oven on high heat. This prevents the outsides from burning and allows the steak to cook more evenly.

More steak cooking tips have to do with doneness. The only sure method is to use a thermometer. These thermometers are easy to use and they are very affordable. They can be used for other meats as well and once you learn the various settings you will always be able to get the desired doneness to your meats.

There are several online websites that are dedicated to this wonderful way of cooking known as grilling, and the contributors to these websites are always happy to share their expertise with you. You can also read books on grilling and learn some of the most famous tricks that have been developed by chefs and old timer grillers.

Learning and then using the steak cooking tips that you find will almost always result in better meats. But you can also learn some great ways to save time on clean up and grill preparation. You can also learn ways to save money on the cuts that you buy and you can learn a ton of tricks that have to do with seasoning your meats. All of these are good to know and to use when grilling.
